My name is Kristine and I am the owner and artist behind The Earth's Own, Tacoma. The name of my business is a nod to the fact that I capture or create from what is already here and none of my doing. I love the outdoors and the beauty of nature and to be able to capture it and create from it is a thrill. My son, Luke, provides some of the photography and a lot of the muscle needed to participate in local art shows in the Tacoma, Washington area. I am currently retired, but dove head first into digital photography in 2010, attending numerous location workshops with other photographers, going as far away as Costa Rica. Now that I live in Washington state, I am enjoying the opportunities for local independent photoshoots, often with Luke.
The beading started when I decided to take jewelry I was no longer wearing and create new pieces that I would actually wear. Once I started, I could not stop. I soon discovered the amazing amount of diversity and glory in gemstones and couldn't stop playing with them. Thus, the bracelets are now an important part of my business as bracelets never seem to go out of style and can serve as prayer beads or jewelry, and be worn by all genders.
